Here’s what I’ve learned to do when I’m on Twitter or Facebook or whatnot and I feel the urge to correct someone else.

I take a pause.

I ask the questions: is it going to be helpful to that person? Were they asking for my input? Am I going to be doing something positive? Do I know this person well enough to go barrelling in to their mentions? Will they take it the right way?

Then, if the answer to all those questions is yes, I take another pause.

Am I sure? Am I going to come across as a bit of a dick?

And then, once I’m certain, I shut the fuck up anyway, because who gives a damn what I think?
